naughty knitting

as you may recall i've been a crazy-ass knitting fanatic lately. recently i've become addicted to ravelry.com, which is my new best friend, thanks to thousands of beautiful, and many free, patterns. currently, i'm working on a scarf for myself with some beautiful mohair/wool/silk yarn one of my couchsurfers gave to me. i copied the pattern for it from a pretty scarf of israel's, which is the closest to designing my own pattern i've come to, i think. i'm almost half way finished with it. i also have a couple of [dozen] christmas gifts in the the works, and plan to cast-on for a new slouchy hat for myself today, which is what i'll be using the aforementioned katie yarn for.

i think my new goal for the winter is to build a stockpile of homemade treasures to populate my defunct etsy shop. so far i've dabbled in jewelry, keychains, and hair clips, and we all know i'm a knitting fiend. i think i have a few other crafty endeavors up my sleeve, so maybe by february or march (after if finish my never-ending list of christmas-gift-madness) i'll have a real store up and running.

also, i got the crazy idea yesterday that perhaps one day i'd like to get an mfa in fiber arts. except i'm not interested in textiles at all, and i'm not sure they give a degree in which all your study materials are spinnable. (i've heard of people who spin and knit with their pet's fur, or even human hair! weird, no? but i'll admit, i have found the stray israel-hair stuck in my yarn, and mostly ignored it and kept going.)

and! i found this perfect little quick-knit project which i whipped up in less than an evening the other night and am dying to post pictures of here. but i can't, 'cause it's a naughty little gift which i may be giving some reader here for christmas, and furthermore, more importantly, my parents and grandparents sometimes read this blog. i don't want to talk about my racy knitting habits over thanksgiving dinner.

but if you enjoy a little something on the racy side (but functional!) and want to see my recent craftiness, leave me a comment with your e-mail (if i don't already have it)--i'll let you in on my dirty little knitting secret.

contrary to the busy and cheerful nature of this post, i've lately been a lazy good-for-nothing who doesn't do much of anything except make good use of her new netflix account whilst clacking knitting needles together in my favorite green chair. or maybe that is perfectly obvious from the sheer volume of knitting projects i've been flying through and alluding to on this blog.
