Sliding Socks
Keri had on her bright yellow soccer socks, which happen to make very good sliding socks.
"Hey, I have these great fleece sliding socks, too," said I. "We should race sometime."
"Put them on, we'll race right now!" my up-for-anything friend enthused.
So I did.
And we raced.
"Run to the second door," she proposed. "Then slide."
So we did.
Several times.
Her socks have more traction for gaining speed. Mine are of the slippery variety that slide well.
Keri won.
And it made us laugh uproariously, not for the first time today.
Today held many blog-worthy topics. A spontaneous road trip to Platte Valley Academy. Cooking lunch with dorm-room foods in a kitchen with very few pieces of cookware and ending up with excellent stir fry and rice and lentils. Visiting a dairy farm--in my good Express Jeans and new black church coat (probably the only strictly non-farm clothes I own), of all things. Meeting a new friend. Driving an incredibly cool pimped-out go-cart.
Keri came to my room about 2:00 tonight to talk about how she's going to quit the job she's barely started. She wanted advice on how to make good excuses for quitting on good enough terms that she could still show her face in Red Robin. After we'd had a long, good conversation, and prayed together, and decided it was past time for bed and we should head that way, we got sidetracked by what turned out to be a great little snapshot in our history.
Sock sliding with Keri at 2:45AM. Out of all the great moments today brought, it takes the cake.
(And yeah, those are my exact sliding socks. Go L.L. Bean)
